Position: Director of HR and Organisational Development – Applications now closed

The Epilepsy Society is the UK’s leading provider of epilepsy services, with a pre-eminent reputation world-wide.  Through cutting edge research, awareness campaigns, information resources and expert care, it works for people with epilepsy.

This is a really exciting time in the Society’s remarkable history as it is on the cusp of a revolution in the field of genetic research and genomic medicine. In the summer of 2016, a Whole Genome Sequencing machine will be installed at its state of the art Research Centre in Buckinghamshire, leading the way in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy, with the aim of working towards individually targeted management of this condition which affects over 500,000 people in the UK alone.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, we are looking for an outstanding individual who will be responsible for the organisational development of the Society with the principal requirements of the role being oversight of the HR Department, internal communications society-wide and the organisational and cultural development of the clinical, medical and care services of the organisation. They will also have responsibility for the management of the HR Team, which provides front-line support to all managers within the business including advice on issues, resourcing and recruitment, and training.

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess an exceptional set of skills. You will be a qualified HR practitioner (CIPD) with significant experience in a senior HR and organisational development position in a complex organisation. In addition, you will have an excellent understanding of the strategic role of HR and Organisational Development and the implementation of internal communication strategies. You will have significant experience in a range of OD interventions with proven business benefit in a complex organisation undergoing structural and cultural change.

Management of a variety of projects, influencing and building credibility at all levels to achieve agreed outcomes and timelines as well as in depth knowledge of current employment law, good practice and research into HR and OD are essential. Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to present to both internal and external audiences are a given.
